„Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every ‘superstar’, every ‘supreme leader’, every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.“
Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
This artwork has been inspired by NASA’s breathtaking Voyager 1 & 2 missions and by great Carl Sagan, who in 1990 asked NASA to turn the camera of Voyager 1 space probe back to Earth, from the edge of our Solar system about 6 billion kilometers away, to take a picture of our tiny planet. My artwork is the blurred and pixelized depiction of this moment, that hails our creativity and reason in the unimaginable vastness of the universe.
Cryptoartik#12 will be also available in aluminum SoundFrame, with speakers, play and stop buttons and a display of an MP3 player, that randomly plays sounds from Voyager Golden Record and sounds of interstellar space recorded by Voyager.
